When it is determined that pool play or bracket play can no longer continue due to inclement weather, the tournament committee shall determine pool standings and if necessary, the final standings using the format described below.
After a pool winner is determined, drop the pool winner from the equation, and repeat the process to determine 2nd place with the remaining teams starting back at rule #1. Replace the words pool winner with 2nd place in pool. Continue using this process, dropping the winner each time, until you have determined all the positions necessary that will advance to medal round play or bracket play.
REMEMBER: Once your pool winner has been determined and removed from the equation, you must than insure you go back to equal number of games played by the teams that remain in the equation, this is an important step. You will continue to do this each time a team is removed from your equation.
Please remember throughout this entire process, once an equal number of games played has been established this criteria will always apply:
Take each individual pool and determine which team has played the least amount of games. Example: There are 4 teams in your pool:
Because team 4 has played only 1 game, you would use only the first game played by each team to determine each teams won/loss record.
Once you have determined the equal number of games played by each team, (example, each team played 2 games) use each teams first two (2) games played and determine their won/loss record. Using their won/loss record proceed to the following rules:

If medal round play cannot resume, take same rank in each pool (example: Pool A winner, Pool B winner, Pool C winner) or the remaining teams in the winners or losers bracket if using, and run the rain policy tie breaker system, which reverts back to original pool play with equal games played. You would go back to rule #1 and start your process all over again.
Following are some quick scenarios that will give you examples of how medal round, bracket play and pool standings are determined:
EXAMPLE #1
You have an age division with 3 pools and each pool has 4 teams.
Pool play has been completed and the following medal round has been determined:
Game #1 - A2 vs C2
Game #2 - B2 vs Game #1 winner (B2 was your drawn bye winner) winner will be 4th place.
Game #3 - A1 vs B1 loser will be 3rd place
Game #4 - C1 vs Game #3 winner (C1 was your drawn bye winner) loser is 2nd, winner is 1st place.
Medal play can't be continued. The rain policy will revert back to original pool play with equal number of games played. A2 played 3 games, C2 played 4 games. You would use each team's 1st three (3) games to determine their won/loss record and go to rule #1 and start by following the process until you determine a winner. The winner would advance to Game 2, the loser is eliminated. For our example, C2 is 3-0 and A2 is 2-1. C-2 is the winner. Repeat this process for Game #2. Remember C2 played 4 games, B2 played 2 games. Take each team's first 2 games to determine their won/loss. go to rule #1 and follow the process. For our example, C2 and B2 are both 2-0, they did not play each other, so we go to rule 2B. Each team allowed a total of six (6) runs. We now go to rule 2C. B2 scored a total of 10 runs, while C2 scored a total of 13 runs. C2 will be your winner and will be 4th place. B2 is eliminated. You would repeat this procedure for gamed 3 & 4 to determine your 3rd place finisher, your runner up and your champion.
EXAMPLE #2
If two (2) teams are the only remaining teams in a bracket play the 1st and 2nd place finish will be determined by the rain tie breaker system with these remaining 2 teams, which reverts back to original pool play with equal games played, going back to rule #1 to start.
Then take the same rank in each pool (example: 2nd Pool A, 2nd Pool B, 2nd Pool C) or the remaining teams in the loser bracket if using, and run the rain policy tie breaker system, which reverts back to the original pool play with equal games played. You would go back to rule #1 and start your process over again.
EXAMPLE #3
If two (2) teams are the only remaining teams in the loser bracket 3rd and 4th place finish will be determined by the rain tie breaker system with these remaining two teams, which reverts back to original pool play with equal games played, going back to rule #1 to start.
EXAMPLE #1 FOR POOL PLAY RAIN POLICY
If Team A has played three (3) games and Teams B, C, D, E, have played two (2) games, the first two (2) games played by each team, regardless of opponent will be used.
Explaining the finish as follows:
Pool winner Team A
Team A is 2-0 (best record) with only two (2) games played - Pool winner
2nd place is Team B
With least runs allowed at six (6)
There are three (3) teams tied at 1-1. These three (3) teams have not all played each other at least once. We are going to rule 3B (total runs allowed in equal games played).
Team B allowed six (6) runs
Team D allowed ten (10) runs
Team E allowed eleven (11) runs
3rd place is Team E
Head to Head
Three (3) teams were tied with 1-1 records
We have determined that Team B allowed the least runs for 2nd place, now we go head to head with Team D vs Team E.
Team E beat Team D 8 runs to 4 runs in game #5.
4th place is Team D
Head to Head
Team E beat Team D head to head, 8 runs to 4 runs in game #5
5th Place is Team C
Record was 0-2
EXAMPLE #2 FOR POOL PLAY RAIN POLICY
If Team A hs played three (3) games, Teams B and C have played two (2) games and Team D has played one (1) game, then the first game played by each team regardless of opponent will be used.
Explaining the finish as follows:
Team D Pool Winner
Two (2) teams tied at 1-0 records. Then we go head to head and Team D beat Team A 10-8
Team A 2nd Place
Team A only remaining team at 1-0
Team B 3rd Place
Two (2) teams tied with 0-1 records. Then we go head to head and Team B beat Team C (Rule 2A)
Team C 4th Place
Remaining Team
BRACKET PLAY EXAMPLE
If you are playing in a five (5) team winners bracket and two (2) full games have been completed, than the rain policy tie breaker system will be used to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers from only the remaining three (3) teams in the winner's bracket. You would revert back to the original pool play with equal number of games played, going back to rule #1 to start.
The two (2) teams left in the Loser's Bracket will revert back to the original pool play with equal games played, going back to rule #1 to start. This will determine 4th place.
To sum this example up: Once you lose a game in bracket play and go into the Loser's Bracket, even if the rain policy goes into effect, you may not go back into the Winner's Bracket.
